Dimasa not an indigenous tribe of NC Hills????

Does it seem weird ?? With the formation of Indigenous People’s Forum, a pan-indigenous tribes of NCHills organisation, which excludes the Dimasa tribe and The NC Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum (NCHISF) , it implied so.
Opposition to renaming of NCHills
The tribes are comfortable with changing the name of Hidimba kingdom to Cachar,Nagaon,NCHills, and Dimapur and most recently Karbi Anglong. The hostilities towards Dimasa among the tribes of NCHills are growing, so does it means the Dimasa should treat their fellow brethens as enemy or foe? No one wants that right? we have seen all that enough .

Hmm, let me remind some History of the recent past … There was only three villages in Haflong in 1892 when the Bristish shifted their headquarter from Gunjung, viz “Hangkhlong”, the present kalibari region, “Longma”,present council region and the other one ,I forgot the name. The other areas of present Haflong is off records.Well, we all know who are the indigenous tribe of NCHills, and who brought the refugees from Mizoram and Manipur in the year 1952 and resetlled them in NCHills, Assam; not long back is it?? That piece of land was bought by the honourable first CEM of NCHills Mr CH Khotlang for Rs 400.They are still refugees in Manipur and Mizoram till date. Reminded something?? But no one’s questioning and rightly so, because indigenous people of NCHills are accommodating.

Lets not talk long History of the kings and all and the British and Indian prejudice , blah blah….This is the 60s one…One of the indigenous tribe of NCHills are still reidiculed for their foolishness by the Royal tribe because they gave away all their land to the “refugees” in the Mahur region (Mahur is the other name of Sambhudhan Phonglo). They took the land in the pretext of lease and usurp the whole beautiful hill, which is famous among the Dimasa as very fertile land and the foolish people sold them to the refugees. But those foolish people were dear to the Dimasa as they have live together for centuries.

I don’t care if the name of Hasao raji, as known in Dimasa is named NCHills or Cachar or Western Nagalim, what matters is the serenity and tranquility among the tribes. Changing the name doesn’t mean that you are not the owner of your land. Likewise our 10 bighas piece of land will be ours irrespective of the name of the district being NCHills or Dima Hasao Raji. No one should see through the glass of religion; when you are in trouble in far off places , “we” will count. This “we” comprises all the people of NCHills , indigenous or whatsoever .
